The Start of Something Great

Welcome to another exciting school year at Enthusiastic Elementary School. As principal of the school I am fortunate to work with a terrific staff that are truly committed to the mission of our school.  Here at Enthusiastic Elementary School our mission states, "Enthusiastic Elementary provides an academically challenging, college preparatory education in a collaborative, nurturing community for students with a wide range of talents, backgrounds and abilities. Students develop self-worth, the confidence to take intellectual risks, an appreciation of diversity of all kinds, and the ability to work cooperatively. Students become independent, self-aware learners ready for global citizenship." This year I am excited to announce that several teachers have elected to grow themselves professionally through action research.  What is action research you might ask?  Well, a simple dictionary definition states that "action research is a type of research conducted by practitioners in learning organizations that uses qualitative and quantitative methods, designs, and tools to improve teaching and learning." However, as you read you will notice the meaning of action research varies hallway by hallway, teacher by teacher.  Our teachers at Enthusiastic Elementary take action research and its importance to heart.  These outstanding and highly reflective teachers will be sharing their journeys in action research weekly.  We will be able to get an insider take on action research in the school house hallway by hallway.    I look forward to being apart of their journey and the reporting of it to you. Below you will meet the hallway representatives and what action research means to them.

Pre-K Hallway-Ms. Kelly Bryant
Action research is a way for teachers to recognize when change is needed. It is an opportunity for teachers to use research, data, and practical application to promote growth with best practices in teaching and learning.

1st Grade Hallway-Ms. Aprell Adams

Action research is a problem solving strategy for improving the school organization. It is evidence based data that assist in developing effective strategies teachers can use when developing instruction or intervention programs.

3rd Grade Hallway-Ms. Stacey Seiler
Action research is research based decision making that’s tailored to my classroom. It helps me reflect on the areas that I would like to strengthen, and can provide insight into what actions should be taken to create sustainable, positive change.

4th Grade Hallway-Mrs. Jaime Lambrinos
